I took this picture at Westbury Gardens NY, It was a beautiful place, lush with flowers and trees. We stopped at the lake in the picture and saw this little bench. I thought it was beautiful. This picture inspired me because of the relaxing feeling it gives off. You just want to sit on the bench and admire the lake before it. On the top of the roof above the benches, are beautifully carved patterns obviously just for decoration considering all of the holes. But it probably beautiful looking up through it at night or even durning the day up at the sky. The reflections in the water also made the scene unique. It was such a clear sunny windless day and everything, even the water was calm and peaceful. If you look at the inside of the concrete right below the roof you can see the shadow of the pattern on the wall. That looks awesome, Anyway the entire place was beautiful and I recommend going there.

I took this picture at a farm in little neck, NY where I grew up as a child. I went back to visit the farm a few weeks ago and was amazed with how much it changed. I would go there every sunday with my brother and father, mainly in the winter and fall. I basically grew up there. I remember the place looked so huge to me cause I was so little and I remember there being tons of animals. This was the only cow that was there. It was sort of depressing to see him all by himself. I think the picture portrays the feelings I got from looking at the cow and maybe even the cow itself. It does not look happy and healthy. He's symbolic of what has happened to the farm over the years. Slowly there are less animals and less visitor. this means less money to take care of the land. I was also inspired by the picture because of the beauty, shape and color of the animal. I have always been an animal person and I still am amazed by nature. It unfortunate that times have changed and I feel that less children go to places like farms. Instead they go to theme parks and movies. Animals are so special and I wish that people would still be exposed to them despite the fact that our culture seems to become more urban and less interested in nature.

I also had to write about my self portraits. I learned from the critique that I have to use negative space more. For example in one picture I used most of my face and focused on my eyes. If I had taken the picture a little further back and got part of the wall to my left, the picture would have been more effective. I learned from other peoples projects how to use light and color to create a feeling. I also learned not to be afraid to get up close and maybe cut off certain parts of my face or body. Doing this can still achieve the same effect or even a better one.

I took this photograph at the top of a cliff along the beach. It was beautiful but at the same time threatening. Where I was and where the picture shows was fenced off because of the unstable sides of the cliff. Below were jagged rocky sandscapes. When I saw them from the beach I knew that I had to get up there. I soon found out there was a trail. So on the family vacation i dragged my brother with me to take pictures from the top. The power the cliffs had, despite their beauty inspired me. ANd the fact that there was so much life on top of these sandy walls was interesting. Of course my brother had to go right up to the edge and scare me half to death.

I Wish I went to take these pictures at night. Its probably beautiful but definitely very dangerous. This picture brings back good memories though. We were too lazy to walk back so we climbed down the lowest cliff we could find. We didnt realize there was alittle bit of water running through it so it was almost a slip and slide. I find it very interesting how the water and wind cut out the dunes and cliffs. Its amazing how nature creates these masterpieces.

I took this photograph when i was staying at Montauk, Long Island this summer. I've gone there almost every year since I was a little kid. It is beautiful. This year I decided to bring my camera. Im glad that I did cause one night I went out on the rocks with my friend and this is what we saw. I was using a sony cybershot which isnt nearly as good as our D-40s, but Im happy with how the picture came out. The fence is silhouetted and the sky is filled with intense colors where the water meets it. The sky was mostly clear that night but because of the intense color we can see a few pink clouds up there. I also liked how both the fence and the beach seem to be pointing toward the center of the picture where the sun had just set. In my art work I love intense rich color and contrast. I believe it gives pictures an inspirational and amazing feeling of awe. Sunsets are perfect examples of this intensity. What is also interesting is the sky is constantly changing while the sun is setting. So if you take a picture just a few minutes before it could look very different. Anyway I love ocean and boat pictures so your probably going to see a lot of that on this blog. adios!
